Naruto Uzumaki has been sealed by his adoptive son Kawaki to protect him from the threat of Momoshiki. While most characters have a promising future, some fan favorites have been less fortunate.
These characters are none other than Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha. Compared to the two, Naruto has certainly had the worst fate as he was sealed towards the end of Boruto Part 1. This decision shocked many fans, but those who thought that Naruto would die were relieved to know that this was not the case. Although three years have passed in the Naruto universe, he has still not made his return. Fans will have to wait and see how this unfolds.
How was Naruto sealed?
The sealing process of Naruto Uzumaki was carried out by his adoptive son, Kawaki, a highly controversial character. Although not inherently evil, his actions make him appear that way. Kawaki was welcomed by Naruto when he was alone and thus given a new life.
Unlike Jigen who tortured him every day, Naruto provided him with the love and comfort that a parent should offer a child. Grateful, Kawaki decided to protect Naruto from all members of the Otsutsuki Clan, even if it meant killing Boruto Uzumaki. This is precisely why he sealed Naruto and his wife, Hinata. In his mind, it was to protect Naruto from the threat of Momoshiki. At the end of Boruto Part 1, Kawaki revealed his plan to Naruto and sealed him.
Naruto Uzumaki during the Boruto timeskip
After sealing Naruto Uzumaki, Kawaki attempted to kill Boruto. When Sarada intervened, Kawaki did not hesitate to try to kill her, leading to Boruto losing an eye while trying to save her. The timely intervention of Sasuke and the ninjas from Konoha put an end to Kawaki’s threat. However, thanks to Momoshiki, Kawaki found a way to escape. It was at this moment that Ada intervened to help Kawaki. Three years have passed and Naruto remains in the dimension of Daikokuten where time stands still, which means Naruto has not aged a day.
When will Naruto be released from his seal?
Naruto Uzumaki will most likely be released in Part 2 of Boruto. Everything points to Naruto being released after the fight between Boruto and Kawaki. For now, Konoha is being attacked by Code and every ninja must repel this attack. It seems that Boruto Uzumaki will be the one to take care of it and, once it is done, a fight could break out between Boruto and Kawaki. But this fight won’t be like the one fans saw in the series prologue. When this clash takes place, Kawaki reveals that he will send Boruto to the same place where he sent the Seventh Hokage, which means Naruto will still be sealed at that time.
Naruto’s strength in Boruto
Naruto’s strength has been quite inconsistent in Boruto. At the beginning of the series, he was at the peak of his power and could even face powerful enemies like Momoshiki and Isshiki. But after using the Baryon mode, Naruto lost Kurama, which greatly reduced his power. Fans can expect Naruto to come back as strong as before he was sealed. Nevertheless, he might find a way to regain his former power.
Boruto is available on Viz Media. The series is officially and free accessible on the Shonen Jump and Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of Boruto, Boruto Part 2 Chapter 3, is set for October 20, 2023.
