Enhance Your Communication Experience with X’s Advanced Audio and Video Calling Capabilities

It will now be possible to make audio and video calls on the social network X (formerly Twitter), announced its owner, Elon Musk, on Thursday, a step towards turning X into an “all-in-one app”.

“Audio and video calls are coming to X,” Musk wrote in a message on the platform, without indicating the launch date of these new features. They will be accessible on Android, iOS, Mac, and PC, without the need for a phone number, he specified. “X is the global directory,” he added.

In July, Mr. Musk and his new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, announced the name change of Twitter to X, stating that the network would become a “universal app” inspired by WeChat in China, which would allow users to socialize and manage their finances.

X’s payment branch, Twitter Payments, received a “crucial” currency transmission license from the US state of Rhode Island on Monday. This will allow them to “engage in activities related to cryptocurrencies” such as exchanges, wallets, and payments, according to the cryptocurrency website CoinWire. This license allows X to “safely store, transfer, and facilitate the exchange of digital assets on behalf of its users,” they explain.

Since Mr. Musk acquired Twitter in October last year, the platform’s advertising activity has plummeted as advertisers have been put off by his management style. In response, the billionaire has shifted the model towards a subscription-based service. Many users have reacted negatively to the fees imposed for previously free services, as well as the changes made to content moderation. Mr. Musk has also removed the Twitter logo, replacing the blue bird with a white X.
